I am fascinated by New Years Eve celebrations full of folklore and traditions.  Mine I've tried were rather straightforward and practiced mostly in jest, like sleeping with a mirror nearby and throwing coins at my front door and then giving the money to charity.  Can't say it brought me luck, but it was entertaining at the moment.
